Still Packing, Still Moving.

Things we have done:
  • been to ikea and bought the little bits of furniture and rugs we need for the bigger space (twice in two days)
  • taken a few loads of stuff to the new house.
  • gotten the ball rolling on getting the home phone an broadband set up in the new house. (I seriously don't understand why it takes so many phone calls or so many days. Ho hum.)
  • started to get the new living room into some sort of order
Things we still have to do:
  • finish packing an moving
  • clean up Old Flat-surfaces, walls windows and possibly the carpet?
  • Put New House together. No excuses. No living half unpacked for months.
  • makes plans and budget for how to deal with New garden
If only it were so simple....

I promise all the moving grumbling will be done with soon,

Minnie xoxo

Moving Amnesia

How do I manage to forget how much I hate moving? Every single time I get stuck with the awful realisation that we own a ridiculous amount of stuff for two people. Like multiple pairs of shoes, tools, books, hobby related stuff and don't even get me started on kitchen stuff. I swear we cull all this every time we move. Ruthlessly going through our possessions until we've got the bare minimum. Alas the bare minimum is still quite a lot, especially now that white goods (fridge and freezer) have been thrown into the mix. I do understand that we don't actually own that much, but two people with hobbies in a tiny flat? Yeah not much fun.

Anyway I always forget how much I hate this process. Or at least the packing side of things.

Still, I'm slowly attacking what feels like taking down mounds of artwork and putting up the fairly horrendous Ikea prints that came with the flat back up.

Thankfully we're moving into a much bigger, brighter space. Hurrah! This flat has been great for a really easy commute to uni but the Landlord has put it up for sale and its a bit dark and dingy in any weather that isn't bright sunshine (which lets be honest is pretty rare in Scotland.) And the new place is on the other end of the scale, a bit of a ways out but big, bright and  airy and with a wood stove hopefully much, much cheaper to heat than out current place with its ancient storage heaters.

Any tips for staying sane during all this packing?

Planning and to do lists

Class sign ups are on Monday. MONDAY. Where has this summer gone? The weather has been horrendous! I feel like I got nothing done. Oh woe is me!

I've spent most of the week unpacking. Dad and A came up on Sunday with our furniture and crockery out of storage because they are just lovely.

Dad discovered Nerf.

They then quite wisely left me to deal with it all.

There really was a lot of stuff.

Actually there was loads of stuff.

I got fancy new wellies.

They are from the kid's department in Next, but the do them up to a ladies size 7! Super comfy and less than 20 quid
. You can't really argue with that.

But all this unpacking is distracting me from the hellish weather and the fact that classes start NEXT WEEK!

I need to start digging out my note books, pens and bento stuff. Bento lunches are brilliant for long days in the library.

Now back to the unpacking!

Take care, Minnie xoxo

My family are awesome.

Have I told you guys that? They drive me mental, but they are awesome. They are the lovely people enabling my upping sticks and moving.

I swear these posts will get longer, and less pointless. But packing is so over whelming. In theory all I have to do is box up the stuff for the charity shop first then divide my worldly possessions into two piles. One pile is coming with me to my room till may and the other, much larger pile, is going to be stored.

What actually happens is, I hop into a room full of hope armed with my note book, pens and boxes, then slump and start doing something really random, usually cleaning. Which does help, but I'm no further forward with my packing. At all.

I am now at least the proud owner of some proper jamas, they have flowers on. Shut up, they are fluffy and from primark. The flat I'm moving into is known for its Open Sofa policy, flashing some poor, hungover random while I stoat about in a massive teeshirt and pants of unknown origin simply wouldn't do. I will however still insist on offering them mashed banana on toast.

Now just to make the fear that uni will turn round and say "Ha! No sorry we've change our mind!" go away...

And pack.

Packing.

Its starts today. The lists, the boxes, the colour codes.

I've vowed to be really hard on myself when packing. I don't need so much "stuff", I am not a stash crafter at all. Sock yarn doesn't count but the rest needs to be used up promptly or go. Which I nice, I can have a few bit to make my new room feel homely, even if it is only till the end of May.

I will miss this house, as falling downy as it is. I'll miss my plants and my little garden. The oven than burns every thing on any setting.

Here's hoping I make it to the other side of all these lists.
